Specialisms
The proposed Academy would specialise in English and Engineering & Design. This would open up a wide range of opportunities for students of all abilities and encourage possible career paths in local industries such as tourism and engineering, both of which are important to the Bournemouth economy. It would offer excellent progression routes to further and higher education and provide a climate of both academic and vocational aspiration for students of the Academy. No schools in the local area currently offer either of these specialisms, so the Academy has the potential to become a centre of excellence in the area.
The Academy would also focus on preparing the students for life after school by delivering a practical and tailored curriculum to ensure that learning opportunities offer a full range of academic and vocational pathways. Students would leave the Academy as confident team players with strong problem solving skills.
